Momentum is again building for a car-free, low-level connection between Rozelle’s Glebe Island and Pyrmont across Johnstons Bay. Community organisations are continuing the work begun by the Glebe Society, and there is growing political support at both local and state levels, including from the Mayor of the Inner West.
One immediate opportunity to demonstrate community backing is a free BBQ picnic on Saturday, 21 February, calling on the NSW Government to reopen the bridge. The event is being organised by the local Member for Balmain, Kobi Shetty, as a community gathering. Further details are available here:
https://www.kobishetty.org.au/reopen_glebe_island_bridge_bbq
Date: Saturday, 21st February
Time: BBQ picnic from 11am. (Bike bus and walking groups will depart earlier from Rozelle – details to follow)
Where: Waterfront Park, Pyrmont.
Bring a picnic blanket and we’ll supply the food – vegan options will be available, but please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary requirements
Please register to attend at Join Us – Help Reopen the Glebe Island Bridge. The event is free and open to all, but your RSVP will help with catering for the BBQ.
Come together and show the NSW Government how much this link means to our community.
